Coming on the heels of recent arrest of seven judges in the
country, after a raid on their residences by the DSS, President Muhammadu
Buhari has forwarded the names of two judges to the Senate for confirmation as
justices of the Supreme Court.
According to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who read the
request letter from President Buhari during Tuesday’s plenary, those
nominated are Paul Jauro from Taraba State (North East) and Sidi Bage from
Nasarawa State (North Central).
Justice Bage, born on June 22, 1956, became Federal High Court
Judge in 1992 before his appointment as Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2000.
Born in 1954, Jauro became a judge of the High Court in 1998 and
was appointed Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2008.
They were nominated by the National Judicial Council, NJC.
