The Lagos state command of the Nigerian police says it has arrested 31 armed robbery suspects in different areas of the state in the last seven days. Making this known, Mr Fatai Owoseni the commissioner of police in Lagos said the leader of a militant group that terrorised Igando area was arrested on Friday. The police boss said the suspects were arrested at Ojota, Oshodi, Victoria Island, Ikeja, Orile, Ikorodu, Igando and Anthony village.

He alleged that while some of the suspects trail bank customers, others attacked people at BRT bus stops in the morning and robbed motorists at traffic. “Items recovered from them include a Beretta pistol, two locally-made short guns, cartridges, ammunition, charms, speed boat and 12 vehicles. “They will be charged to court soon,’’ he said. The commissioner called on personnel of the command to be alert always, especially during the ember months and during the Sallah celebration. Recall that two suspected robbers that are yet to be identified have been shot dead by police officers in FESTAC area of Lagos state.
